Bayer Pharmaceutical Lab,
Berkeley, California

Bayer Corporation, the American subsidiary of Bayer AG, has expanded its Berkeley, California campus with the construction of Building 68, a 32,430-square-foot facility dedicated to biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing.

Artin was selected as the structural engineering consultant for this $150 million design-build project to complete the structural steel design, collaborating with BlueScope Conventional Steel Services, the structural steel fabricator. The facility features approximately 32,000 square feet of roof area and a 7,000-square-foot mezzanine within the manufacturing zone. The structural system employs steel frames with Buckling-Restrained Braced Frames (BRBF), providing enhanced seismic resilience essential for the region. Building 68 has achieved LEED Silver certification, reflecting Bayer's commitment to sustainable building practices.

This development underscores Bayer's dedication to advancing biopharmaceutical innovation and manufacturing capabilities in the United States.
